Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Opportunity in Regulation of Hematopoietic Development

A postdoctoral position is available to study mechanisms underlying the development of hematopoietic cells (with a focus on erythroid or red blood cells) in the mammalian embryo. We are taking a number of molecular, cellular and genetic approaches to understand possible signaling interactions between primitive (embryonic) red blood cells and other cells in the developing embryo, including hematopoietic stem cells. Candidate signals have been identified on the basis of microarray experiments. This work takes advantage of unique transgenic mouse and embryonic stem cell (ES cell) lines developed in our laboratory.

The ideal candidate has an MD and/or PhD degree, a strong background in
molecular, cellular and developmental biology, and demonstrated productivity in the laboratory. Experience with mammalian cell culture or with mouse models highly desirable. Preference will be given to applicants seeking their first postdoctoral position.
