Power Engineer

Things that you can expect to learn, be involved in or become and expert on:
- Become knowledgeable with U.S. electric industry standards that apply to study testing procedures for reliable electric system operation.
- Gain familiarity with US electric system topology.
- Perform technical analysis and provide insight on the impacts of transmission and generation development projects on existing facilities.
- Gain experience and develop expertise in power system stability analysis, especially as it relates to the installation of renewable generating resources.
- Participate in project teams and client meetings as appropriate.
- Contribute to industry forums and regional and national technical committees to support further development of North American electric markets.
- Write detailed reports based on studies performed and provide peer review for other’s work products as needed.
What my client is looking for?
- Minimum 8-10 years of related Power Delivery experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required (MSEE preferred)
- Professional engineering registration in IL or the ability to obtain within 6 months
- The selected individual will have significant experience in performing power flow and transfer studies on the bulk electric system.
- The individual will have experience in numerous analyses on the frequency response characteristic of the system interconnection, identifying and implementing improvements to control performance.
- Experience with system requirements for ancillary services, particularly regulation and black start service requirements.
- Other areas of experience include: power flow and voltage in the real-time and planning horizons, and Energy Management Systems, Information Technology support, and power line construction design.
