Responsibilities Include: Prepares designs, plans, and engineering studies to improve or expand electrical power generation systems in accordance with applicable codes, ordinances and regulations. Work includes design calculations, cost estimates, equipment and construction specifications, and related design work in mechanical systems for steam/diesel/combustion turbine generation facilities, and fuel oil infrastructure including pipelines and storage tanks. Responsibilities also include conducting field inspections to verify field conditions, checking compliance with specifications, project engineering and project management, troubleshooting and startup support.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited engineering school; Hawaii Professional Engineering license; thorough knowledge of principles of engineering design, project engineering, project management, standards development and construction methods associated with power plant mechanical systems designs normally acquired through a minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience; working knowledge of City, State and Federal laws and regulations; and have or be able to qualify for a current State of Hawaii driver license.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of computers, involving word processing and spreadsheets.
