ABOUT THE GROVE SCHOOL

The Grove School will provide young learners an outstanding educational foundation for elementary school. A researched-based curriculum focuses on helping children meet elementary school readiness milestones at every age level. Academic focus is on whole children through math, science, language arts, creative arts, and social skills.

In addition to a strong emphasis on traditional subjects, the school will present hands-on learning opportunities themed around a healthy mind, body and planet. Children will explore healthy lifestyles, social-emotional expression, fitness and movement, science and technology, music, drama and fine arts.

The school will stress sustainability by leveraging green building materials in their construction. Maximizing daylight will create an improved learning environment while reducing energy consumption. Water conservation will include low-flow plumbing fixtures. Classrooms will be open and bright with plenty of space for academic learning, as well as movement and enrichment activities including yoga and theater. Students will participate in recycling and cultivating their own food in the on-site organic gardens.

The school – from the facilities and staff to curriculum – will truly be unique from anything currently available in the marketplace. The first two locations will open in Cary, North Carolina and Plano, Texas.

THE IDEAL PERSON FOR THIS JOB

We’re looking for highly trained and motivated teachers who will be responsible for providing a dynamic early childhood educational atmosphere where children will have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth.

As a teacher, you are responsible for demonstrating knowledge of the content, standards, and related pedagogy; effective instructional approaches which meet the needs of each child; highly effective classroom environment and behavior management techniques; as well as an understanding and application of professional responsibilities and relationships. You will implement the instructional program with high fidelity and creativity, keeping the environment at the core of your instructional delivery.

You have demonstrated abilities to teach young children and you are highly collaborative and team-oriented. Your passion is educating young children and growing within the profession of teaching. You possess excellent communication and leadership skills and you are highly effective in developing authentic relationships with families. Personally, you understand pressing social and environmental issues and have an interest in the natural world.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrates knowledge of children to include developmental characteristics, age-appropriate learning processes, language proficiencies, and special learning needs
• Implements current  assessments and designs both summative and formative authentic assessments as needed which are congruent with instructional goals and activities
• Provides a positive environment of respect, compassion, and rapport by establishing an effective learning environment which reflects enthusiasm for the content and high expectations for the children’s work and learning
• Manages the children’s behavior by effectively establishing clear expectations/routines and ongoing opportunities for children to learn age-appropriate behaviors through practice and compassionate support
• Implements instructional activities though the identified core curriculum with an emphasis on the environment and natural world along with appropriate enrichment programs which engage children in meaningful learning experiences
• Works with Education Manager to identify, select, and modify instructional resources needed to meet the needs of all children with varying backgrounds, learning preferences, and special needs
• Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures as required by company policies and/or regulatory compliance
• Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with families and colleagues
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with families and colleagues on a consistent basis
• Collaborates with peers on an ongoing basis to enhance professional growth; works with all supervisors to develop a professional growth plan, and consistently reflects on own teaching effectiveness

NECESSARY EDUCATION

• Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
• Master Degree preferred

SOME OF THE Working Conditions

• When you are on-site at one of our schools, be prepared to engage with the children for extended play inside and outside
• You will need to be able to lift a 40-pound child
• Work shifts may require flexible hours, as well as occasional overnight travel to company or professional meetings/conferences
• Must be able to meet all state, licensing and federal requirements to work within a school environment
