JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

SUMMARY:

Reports to Premium Audit Manager.  Responsible for performing premium audits on Property/Casualty Commercial Lines adjustable policies in an assigned territory) to establish appropriate classifications, exposures and bases of premium.  Responsible for developing earned premiums in accordance with company, industry and government rules and regulations.  There are two positions which will be telecommuting (home office-based) positions.  One will be based in northern NJ with a territory including parts of  northeast NJ and NYC.  The second position will be based in the Trenton/Camden area with a  southwestern NJ audit territory.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

- Conduct audits of selected Commercial Lines adjustable policies by reviewing the insured's business operations, including examining, verifying and recording pertinent classification-related data from financial/business records 

 

-Determine and/or develop premium basis and classification

 

-Conduct in-person audits to optimize timeliness and productivity; some local travel and occasional out of town travel is required

 

-Discuss issues and problems with representatives of companies we insure to ensure understanding of the change in premium and to maintain good customer relations

 

-Ensure quality of the audit through proper risk classification and exposure basis identification. 

 

-Utilize laptop computer to record audit information and transmit completed audits in a timely manner

 

-Provide external customers (i.e., agents and insureds) and internal customers (i.e., underwriting, policy processing, claims and accounting) with information to assist in their understanding of audit-related matters, including audit vouchers, procedures and worksheets

 

-Remain informed of changes and current information relative to premium auditing through discussion and correspondence with experts and industry-related literature

 

 

EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:

 

- College degree in Accounting or degree in, Business Administration with 16 credits of Accounting,

- Once hired, incumbents are required to pass the industry APA exams within specified time frame. 

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

 

-Demonstrated ability to work independently

- Strong organizational skills

- Strong communications skills

- Solid analytical skills

- Proficiency in the use of personal computers and software applications (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word and LOTUS Notes)

- Knowledge of the Property Casualty businesses and products

-   A valid driving license in good standing
