Summary: Directs and leads Bureau towards its mission. Works directly with Board on policy making and strategy for Bureau. Acts as lead salesperson and primary spokesperson for Bureau. Staff direct reports include Sales, Membership, Convention Services, and Office Management.
Marketing and Sales Responsibilities:
· Oversee all sales, marketing and administrative functions of the Bureau.
· Plans, develops and promotes sales campaigns that support Bureau goals.
· Leads and motivates Bureau sales team, ensuring that sales goals are regularly attained.
· Develops and supervises the implementation of an annual operating and marketing plan.
Management and Administrative Responsibilities:
· Oversee all administrative functions of the Bureau.
· Oversees the creation of financial reports in accordance with Board approved procedures.
· Directs the preparation of the annual budget and presents it to the Board for approval.
· Develops and maintains effective organizational policies, ensuring all Bureau activities are implemented within these established policies, guidelines, laws and ethical standards.
· Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates assigned personnel; coordinates staff training; oversees implementation of discipline and termination procedures for all staff members.
· Establishes goals for individual staff members and assists in order to meet those goals.
Communications Responsibilities:
· Advises the Chairman of the Board, the Board and such other committees as designated.
· Establishes and maintains effective communications with members; government, business and cultural leaders; convention and event planners; and local tourism industry.
· Attends all meetings of the membership, Board and other designated committees in an advisory, non-voting capacity.
· Represents the Bureau at select local, state, regional and national conventions that serve to foster the betterment of the Bureau’s mission.
· Promotes the destination to local, state, regional, national and international audiences.
Requirements:
· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, sales, business or related field required.
· 5-10 years experience in sales or marketing management, hospitality or tourism focus preferred.
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and an ability to recruit and develop staff.
· Experience interacting with upper level management in closing sales and nurturing long term business relationships.
· Knowledge of budget development and proven budget controls.
· Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and computer skills.
· Innovative approach including online and social marketing.
· Required to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends as needed.
