POSITION OVERVIEW

Sets up and operates power brake to bend, notch, punch, sheet metal to blueprint or sketch specifications by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed.

     



  • Turns setscrews or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position.

     



  • Turns adjustment screws to set specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal.

     



  • Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints or templates.

     



  • Positions work piece to align layout marks or to backstop.

     



  • Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends metal.

     



  • Sets stops on machine bed and repositions stock to run successive pieces, or to perform multiple operations.

     



  • Verifies dimensions of work piece.



 



  • Other duties may be assigned.

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school education preferred.

     

     

     


    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively with supervisors and employees of organization.

     


    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Able to read a tape measure to a 16th of an inch.

     


    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

     


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    None required.

     



COMPUTER SKILLS


Basic computer skills may be preferred or required for Programmable Brakes.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

No travel required.

Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts.
