Principal Engineer - Wireless Technologies

Responsibilities

Working across UL’s industries, the successful candidate will participate on national and international standards development committees to develop uniform requirements for existing UL product categories/industries as it pertains to wireless technology, and work with appropriate business leaders to help create a stand-alone wireless business. Responsibilities also include monitoring smart grid standards activities and understanding how these activities have an impact on safety and UL Standards.    

Required Skills

  • Working knowledge of UL basic safety principles and hazard-based safety engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering concepts in areas of expertise, including application to complex, new or unusual products.
  • Demonstrated ability to present and draft technical papers on meaning of involved requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to perform as a respected technical resource for peers, management and constituency.
  • Detailed knowledge of UL's operational vocabulary and technical vocabulary common to involved categories.
  • Detailed knowledge of related standards, operations and related forms and systems including detailed knowledge of Conformity Assessment Services, Follow-up Services, Standards programs and associated installation codes or guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of industry issues, needs and problems.
  • Ability to establish, track and manage multiple projects while maintaining quality.
  • University degree ( Bachelor's degree) in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an ABET accredited program or related field.
  • Directly related experience.
