Principal JAVA Engineer – International Natural Language Parser Tools Engineer

Trovix is a search technology company looking for an exceptional Principal JAVA Engineer with a passion for technology  to work on our highly scalable and high performance core search technology.  Must have strong JAVA Development experience and Natural Language Processing and or Compiler experience.    This is an outstanding opportunity for a Principal JAVA Engineer to join a fun, creative, and challenging environment where the right individual can make a huge difference. Our ideal candidate is a software engineer with a combination of skills including solid experience developing large-scale web-based applications as well as experience with natural language processing and with internationalizing software.  Monster recently acquired Trovix and will be extensively utilizing our search technology in future products.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with the engineering, QA and product teams to develop and integrate natural language parsers and language processing technology for a variety of international languages. Develop tools to both process natural language documents and tools to validate the operation of such tools.
  • Design and implement rich Internet web applications using Java frameworks and other Internet technologies.
  • Address performance and scalability challenges in high volume Java applications.

Qualifications:
  • 6+ years experience as a Software Developer with strong JAVA programming and debugging skills.
  • Proven history of significant contribution to shipping commercial software and/or a distinguished academic career in a highly relevant area coupled with industrial experience.
  • Experience internationalizing software.
  • Experience developing and/or using natural language processing tools or strong experience in lexical analysis and compiler work for computer languages.
  • Experience developing web applications and user interface with Java technologies, especially Tomcat, Servlets, JSP, Javascript, and Spring.
  • Development experience with databases and related technology – especially ORM frameworks (Hibernate), SQL, and JDBC – MySql experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience developing with web presentation technologies, including AJAX, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS and multi-browser compatibility.
  • Engineering process, design and testing methodologies.
  • Passion for user experience and experience with open source technologies.
  • Strong skills in algorithm/data structure design and analysis.
  • Experience developing high-performance, large scale distributed systems.
  • Data mining, natural language processing, information retrieval, machine learning and knowledge discovery.
  • Experience with JavaScript toolkits such as Dojo, YUI, GWT, etc.
  • The ability to speak more than one language – preferably including at least one non-English major European language.
  • A BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics (with very strong equivalent CS work experience) is required. Advanced degrees are a plus.
