JOB TITLE: Principal SAP Technical Architect

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Principal SAP Architect is responsible for developing end-to-end technical solution architectures based on current SAP NetWeaver Business Process platforms. Occasionally working with Sr. Architects, the Principal Architect maintains responsibility for the overall technical direction and soundness of the solution. The Principal Architect will be required to multitask across work streams spanning multiple business functions, seek commonalities between business processes for efficiencies, and work to resolve inefficiencies from complex solutions related to SAP Architectural design. These SAP solutions may be a combination of design approaches, middleware, integrations, SAP modules and components. In addition to designing specific SAP business solutions, the Principal Architect is also involved in defining and evolving overall IT architecture and standards that maximize the synergy, reuse and value of individual IT solutions and components over time. The goal is to design practical solutions for SAP business clients that balance business cost, expediency and effectiveness with overall IT architectural integrity and technical elegance.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Providing technical and organizational leadership in the design, definition, planning and development of the EMC SAP architecture and strategy

·         Lead the development and maintenance of an SAP Architecture Strategy including SAP roadmaps, implementation patterns and associated communication materials. This includes: Presentation Strategy, Business Logic Strategy,  Information Access Strategy, Reuse Strategy, Process Automation Strategy, System Resiliency Strategy, Systems Integration Strategy, Application Security Strategy, Environment Configuration and Management Strategy

·         Keeping abreast of developing and emerging design and implementation tools and technologies and facilitate training and mentoring on these topics to the enterprise

·         Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with vendor architects (SAP)

·         Ability to adapt technologies to meet the needs of the EMC business in a manner that can be easily utilized across the enterprise.

·         Personal experience leading the successful design and delivery of enterprise-wide SAP projects.

·         Understands how enterprise IT organizations design and implement both custom and package technology solutions.

·         Five or more years deep experience in application architecture including specifically: Reuse Strategies and implementation, Component based implementation, Architecting and integrating systems in multi-user virtualized environments, 3 or more years experience in Basis administration,  Extensive experience with package system implementation and interoperability, Demonstrated expertise in various technologies and tools, including Java, J2EE, Application Servers, XML, web development, and application security.

·         Ability to analyze and learn rapidly changing technologies

·         Proven track record of participating in Enterprise level technology adoption which has included the successful development and implementation of technology roadmaps for large, enterprise-wide technology transformation initiatives

·         Ability to think strategically and implement iteratively

·         Strong solution design and facilitation skills; Able to facilitate the solution design process working collaboratively with cross functional teams.

·         Ability to identify process improvements

·         Create Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) for effort and cost estimation

·         Work with Architects from the Infrastructure and Security organizations

·         Use and develop new integrations as needed

·         Maintain and develop IT standards

·         Work with the Business and Vendors to supply business need

SKILLS

·         SAP experience should include:

·         Participation in 2+ full lifecycle SAP projects/implementations

·         ASAP 7.0 Methodology (or prior ASAP Version's) required

·         SAP systems configuration

·         SAP systems design and implementation

·         SAP integration strategy

·         SAP systems performance and scalability design and testing

·         SAP environment design and management

·         SAP Portal implementation

·         SAP Solutions Manager expert

·         SAP Module Experience (ECC, SCM, MDM, SRM, PI, BW etc)

·         SAP Master Guides / Best Practices

·         SAP NetWeaver Landscape Design

·         Creation and implementation of SAP upgrade/migration strategies.

·         Strong SAP technical skills including: Basis, ABAP and Java.

·         Utilization of SAP in a HighTech environment

·         Business process modeling tools (e.g. ARIS)

·         Consultative skills

·         Cross-functional skills

·         Possesses strong product/technology/industry knowledge

·         Understanding of business environment

·         Presentation skills

·         Understanding and knowledge of EMC’s products and their value added to the customer

·         SAP NetWeaver Certifications a strong plus

Education:     BS/Masters in Computer Sciences
