We are currently looking for a Principal Security Design Engineer, to join the team in Phoenix, AZ.

Your Responsibilities:

  • The primary duties of the Security Design Engineer will be to design and implement custom network security solutions for Global Crossing Managed Security customers. Strong business relationships with sales, engineering, and network operations will be required. Pre-sales support will also be required to assist in answering customer questions to win business. Applicant will have a strong background in network security elements as well as general networking knowledge to aid in the design of a solid security solution.
  • In addition, job will be expected to support Global network activations with customers. Applicant may be asked to participate on weekends/holidays and after hours work may be required. Applicant will assist in product reviews, product design, and new product implementation. Applicant will be expected to participate in engineering reviews to provide constructive feedback to enhance the product.

Your Profile:

  • In depth knowledge of the TCP/IP stack and layers 1-5 of the OSI model Thorough understanding of Web Filtering technologies (WebSense or BlueCoat preferred)
  • Understanding of IDS, IDP, IPS technologies and implementations Scripting experience in shell, PERL, Python, VB Script is a plus Cisco and/or Juniper router/firewall experience desired Maintain network integrity, standards compliance, and general network cleanliness.
  • Have a firm understanding of existing products and the ability to adapt to changes and must have ability to quickly grasp new products and technology.
  • Assist manager and team to document products and help develop training materials to assist new team members. In addition, help to clean up old training guides to keep current with new network standards.
  • Possess strong customer service skills, a desire to assist people and the ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of technical accuracy to maintain network integrity and security.
  • Understand general telecom technology including concepts behind T1/E1, T3/E3, Ethernet, SoNET, MPLS, VPLS, Frame Relay, ATM, and VOIP.
  • Well developed analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to multi task and set priorities accordingly.
  • This position will require Network Security level screening. Pursuant to the Network Security Agreement (NSA) entered into between Global Crossing and the U.S. Government, only U.S. citizens may be assigned to this position.

Your Education:

  • BS Information Security
  • 4-5 years firewall design experience
  • CISSP desired (but not mandatory)
