Principal Software Engineer

About the Job

This position requires a minimum of 10 years of technical experience in Information Technology, including at least 3 years of experience  leading software development teams.
 
Requires demonstrable technical expertise in conjunction with understanding of the business domain and the company's environment dynamics to take effective and proactive role as a technology leader.
 
The ideal candidate will have profound experience in Windows based multi-tiered applications architecture, design and development, Service Oriented Architectures, MS SQL databases and full life-cycle software development process. Candidates must have solid experience developing high volume internet applications. A solid understanding of browser and web media technology is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Actively participate and lead development efforts in the implementation of mission critical software that accomplishes stated business and technical requirements
• Review and analyze business requirements, and provide feedback on appropriateness
• Develop, define, propose and review solutions and technical approach and design documents
• Effectively scope and estimate work effort and clearly communicate status and issues related to development activities.
• Create and review effective software designs using standard notation (e.g. UML) that communicates implementation details clearly to a software development team.
• Design, develop and test software that utilize the following technologies (.Net, C#, SQL, HTML, Javascript).
• Adhere to solid programming development practices within the organization (maintain environments, source control, automated test) and support continued improvements
• Communicate effectively in both verbal (day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written forms (approach and design specifications); be clear and concise in all communications
• Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during design, development and delivery to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions. 


Skills:
• Thorough understanding of object-oriented design principles
• Expert level development experience in multi-threading .Net, C#, XML, IIS, Windows 2003/2008 environment, Visual Studio


• Experience in the .Net MVC architecture
• Expert level understanding of browser capabilities and their differences (IE6, IE7, IE8, Chrome, Firefox, Opera) with emphasis in Javascript, HTML and Flash.
• Practical experience working with operational support teams in web services environment
• Demonstrated attention to detail in software implementation for reliability and performance
• Experience designing and developing highly reliable mission critical systems
• Ability to write technical specifications, design documents, unit test plans and operational documentation.
• Ability to keep current with technologies
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

Education / Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
• A minimum of seven (10)years of experience in software design / implementation
• Relevant combination of education and experience.
• Microsoft Certification highly desired


• At least 3 years of experience as a technical lead.
