General Dynamics C4 Systems provides its government and commercial customers around the globe with integrated network and communication solutions for mission critical applications including satellite communication, satellite operations, network systems and information services, blue force tracking, homeland security, detection, surveillance, intelligence, and emergency response..

The candidate for this position will be part of a Systems Engineering Team in Fairfax, VA that will be working on the Integrated Wireless Network (IWN) Program which is a joint program for the Department of Justice and the Department of the Treasury. This position seeks highly motivated and energetic persons that will be the local technical face to the customer. The candidates will require the ability to work within a collaborative environment which includes the customer; Scottsdale, AZ based engineering; other General Dynamics entities; and subcontractors. The responsibilities of this position include: requirements and architecture development, CONOPs development, system integration planning, verification planning and deployment planning. The duties include: technical planning, requirements analysis, trade studies (including defining the trade space for the team), scope control, cost and risk management (able to manage a risk profile and design and execute effective mitigation strategies), and supportability analyses to convert customer needs into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. This position requires the ability to work within the system engineering process through the development and implementation of technical metrics. This position also requires the candidate to perform analyses which are performed at all levels of the total system product to include: concept, design, test, deployment, operation, maintenance and training. The ability to work within a formal development process, a desire to work with both COTS and new technologies and experience with communication system development projects is required.B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. M.S. preferred with >10 years of demonstrated results in the field of Systems Engineering on large scale communication networks. Demonstrated past experience with excellent communication skills, and ability to work in a team environment is required. Areas of knowledge and experience to apply to this systems engineering position include: application, adaptation, and augmentation of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products to meet Government system requirements; specification of custom software to glue COTS products together, understanding of networks and radio equipment, including Land Mobile Radio, Commercial Wireless and mesh networks. Understanding of Secure But Unclassified (SBU) methodology. Applicant must be capable of obtaining a Department of Justice Top Secret Security Clearance. 20% travel may be required.
