Principal Systems Engineer

Description:
The Principle Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing technical leadership in a Project Lead capacity for C4I project design support on a Physical Security Program. The candidate will apply Systems Engineering processes and practices to lead an inter-disciplined engineering team in tasks and activities such as requirements analysis, design analysis, scheduling, and other related activities that lead up to production and site installation. The candidate will function with minimal direction and will have frequent interactions with development support organizations including Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Management, On-site Sustainment Support, Configuration Management, and Manufacturing. In addition, the candidate will represent the organization in frequent external meetings and reviews which include Program team members including government Customers, Prime Contractors, Design Agents, Program Support Agencies, and Field Site personnel to ensure that the Physical Security products meet achievable expectations.
The candidate must have a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field of Systems Engineering, and have general knowledge of other related disciplines.
The candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to team with multiple external stakeholders.
The candidate will work closely with the design agent to ensure producibility, maintainability, and sustainability on multiple physical security projects.
The candidate will provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions will be imaginative, thorough, and practicable, and consistent with organizational objectives.


Specific responsibilities include:
- Interface with Customers, Design Agents, other internal engineering disciplines, and Field Sites to ensure C4I project design technical quality and overall site integration.
- Lead the multi-disciplined team in the review and assessment of product designs and facility interface drawings for installation considerations.
- Provide technical leadership to a multi-disciplined design support team in the review and evaluation of design technical data packages (specifications, subassembly drawings, interface drawings, procedures) from the standpoint of ensuring product designs meet producibility, availability, maintainability, and sustainment requirements. Provide recommendations for changes and enhancements as necessary.
- Provide technical support in the preparation and conduct of Customer-level design reviews, including PDRs, CDRs, and Production Readiness Reviews.
- Participate in the development and management of the Integrated Master Schedule; provide subsequent monitoring and statusing of projects that the candidate is responsible for.
- Travel (approx 25% of the time) to support Customer-level and Design Agent meetings and reviews, and Field Site installation reviews.

Experience:
- Experience in a Systems Engineering roles on Programs of equivalent complexity (required).
- Experience in the development, engineering test, transition to production, sell-off, and field installation of Hardware and Software based DoD Products (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with Customers, Prime Contractors, and other Program Stakeholders (required).
- Experience in leading inter-disciplined development teams (preferred).
- Hold current Secret Clearance (required).
- Strong communication and presentation skills (required).
- Demonstrated commitment to achieve (required).
- Ability to travel approx 25% (required).

Qualifications:
This position requires a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related scientific or technical disciplines, or Bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years of experience (or equivalent technical work experience).

Related work experience includes the following:
Systems engineering from requirements, design, integration and test, and field installation.

Candidate must have an active and transferable Secret clearance.

Applicants selected must have an Active secret clearance at time of hire. Due to the nature of work performed in our facility, U.S. Citizenship is required.
