Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
Support Sales by attending client meetings and conference calls and providing statistical expertise as needed
Independently build and present statistically sound models and analysis using both standard and non-standard programs
Design, research, and develop new statistical tools, programs, and products to meet business needs
Apply industry techniques/ideas/trends to current systems
Consult/explain complex statistical ideas to both internal and external clients
Translate clients needs into project plans
Identify and design improvements for current systems
Lead high-level complexity projects
Research new products and applications of new data sources
Proactively identify business needs and develop project plans to serve them.
Consult with other departments on ways to improve systems
Continuously focus on ways to improve efficiencies and quality control within the stats group.
Continuously look for opportunities for new products and applications of Abacus data
Serve as a "Go To" person for all of stats department
Provide project direction/guidance to the rest of the department
Provide input on staff performance, training requirements/needs, and related admin issues.
Accountable for setting own direction and giving Stat Analysts, Statisticians, Senior and Lead Statisticians direction on day-to-day activities.
Coordinate and monitor activities of personnel to ensure effective workflow
Provide technical guidance to the rest of the group, ensuring not only technical growth but adherence to standards and procedures
Develop strong working relationships with key members of other departments and work with Management to develop a team relationship /understanding between the departments
About the Opportunity
A principal statistician is responsible for identifying and executing upon statistical and analytical projects and opportunities to enhance the Abacus business, both on the Alliance and Data Management sides.
This position is client facing and is responsible for consulting with sales personnel and external clients.
Work with other departments to educate personnel on proper statistical principles and methodology, and creating SAS programs.
Provide strategic input to goals, priorities, and deliverables of the stats department helping ensure that business needs are met in a statistically sound way.
Qualifications:
Superior knowledge of statistical methods (linear, logistic, cluster, factor, anova, etc.) and statistical principles (sampling, inferences, transformations, validations, etc.)
Ability to work independently and effectively multi-task
Demonstrated proactiveness and resourcefulness
Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Excellent consulting skills
Proven leadership ability and demonstrated team player
Advanced degree in a statistical field
Minimum 5 years experience with data analysis or modeling with large transactional databases
Minimum 10 years experience in a statistical field
Minimum 5 years experience conducting original research
Minimum 5 years experience working with external clients in a business environment
Ability to travel up to twice a month
Knowledge of Direct Marketing
