Process Engineer (Casing)

  • Reviews manufacturing drawings to determine production capabilities and identifies and resolves potential technical issues

  • Attends monthly design review meetings with engineering team as a representative of Chattanooga manufacturing

  • Supports programmers and machine tool operators to resolve challenging and complex manufacturing processes

  • Provides root cause analysis to resolve any technical issues that arise during production and supports cycle time calculations 

  • Upholds and participates in the company quality and EHS programs, and performs other duties as assigned


  • This position will require major international travel in the first six (6) months for in-depth technical training

  • Irregular working hours may be required  from time to time to resolve problems

  • Bachelor degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering

  • Five (5) years of experience with the shop processes required to execute the manufacturing of large complex industrial gas and steam turbines (both rotating and stationary components)

  • Thorough understanding of machining processes in regards to large complex turbine rotors and casings

  • Certified in or familiarity with geometric tolerancing and dimensions

  • Thorough understanding of engineering drawings, standards and specifications

  • Knowledge of large steam and gas turbine stationary and rotating components  

  • Solid computer skills including email, Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, product database management (PDM), SAP/PowerMax       

  • Strong knowledge of the rules and regulations with respect to EHS    

  • Strong safety, quality and teamwork orientation with a track record of dependability  

  • Knowledge of the metric system preferred

  • Knowledge of Lotus Notes preferred

  • Training in PDM, SAP/PowerMax preferred

  • Ability to read, write, understand and clearly speak the English language

  • Ability to read, write, understand and clearly speak the French and/or German language preferred

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: frequent sitting, standing, and walking; frequent computer use; frequent telephone use; some lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.
