Process Engineer (Casing)
- Reviews manufacturing drawings to determine production capabilities and identifies and resolves potential technical issues
- Attends monthly design review meetings with engineering team as a representative of Chattanooga manufacturing
- Supports programmers and machine tool operators to resolve challenging and complex manufacturing processes
- Provides root cause analysis to resolve any technical issues that arise during production and supports cycle time calculations
- Upholds and participates in the company quality and EHS programs, and performs other duties as assigned
- This position will require major international travel in the first six (6) months for in-depth technical training
- Irregular working hours may be required from time to time to resolve problems
- Bachelor degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
- Five (5) years of experience with the shop processes required to execute the manufacturing of large complex industrial gas and steam turbines (both rotating and stationary components)
- Thorough understanding of machining processes in regards to large complex turbine rotors and casings
- Certified in or familiarity with geometric tolerancing and dimensions
- Thorough understanding of engineering drawings, standards and specifications
- Knowledge of large steam and gas turbine stationary and rotating components
- Solid computer skills including email, Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, product database management (PDM), SAP/PowerMax
- Strong knowledge of the rules and regulations with respect to EHS
- Strong safety, quality and teamwork orientation with a track record of dependability
- Knowledge of the metric system preferred
- Knowledge of Lotus Notes preferred
- Training in PDM, SAP/PowerMax preferred
- Ability to read, write, understand and clearly speak the English language
- Ability to read, write, understand and clearly speak the French and/or German language preferred
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: frequent sitting, standing, and walking; frequent computer use; frequent telephone use; some lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.
