JOB SUMMARY – The Process Engineer will provide planning, development, implementation and/or oversight of process improvement activities within the manufacturing plant.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS - The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering; other Engineering degrees will be considered with demonstrated Process Engineering experience.
· 3 – 5 years experience performing process improvements, equipment installations and modifications, with a strong preference for candidates with fermentation industry experience.
· Liaise with Project Engineering, Maintenance,, Management, and Production personnel to provide process specifications as required to fully implement process improvements.
· Monitor the manufacturing process on a continuous basis and identify and resolve quality, productivity or safety issues. This will require working both with supervisors and operators to troubleshoot and resolve problems as well as detailed data analysis to independently solve problems. .
· Maintain project control and accountability until the projects are accepted by the manufacturing group and all project goals are met.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
· Ability to apply a disciplined experimental approach to solving production problems using data and current statistical tools
· Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
· Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience is a plus
· Working knowledge of SAP is a plus

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES - To identify and implement process improvements which result in higher throughput, improved efficiencies, recognizable cost savings and more consistent product quality. The job will also involve the design, construction, and start-up of capital projects to support these improvements where necessary. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the fundamental functions and responsibilities of the job as defined below:
· Recommend and implement process improvements aimed at maximizing capacity utilization and reducing the cost of production through process optimization.
· Implement process changes that improve product quality and consistency.
· Select best-suited process equipment for applications by meeting with vendors, running trials, and staying current on new technology.
· Develop technical analysis of the performance of existing processes and process systems (e.g., fermentation, dry grinding, classification, surface treatment, packaging, screening)
· Prepare written reports on findings with recommendations for further work.
· Manage expense and capital projects, when they occur, insuring operation and budget requirements.
· Work with project engineering during the conception and installation of new equipment and processes to assure smooth and cost-effective introduction and startup.
· Responsible for improving yield, throughput, operating efficiency, and reducing costs.
· Continually works to improve plant output without compromising product quality or safety.
· Correct process capability problems and achieve sustainable results.
· Responsible for assigned capital projects at the plant and assists on larger capital projects by working directly with the Operations Manager or Sr. Project Manager.
· Ensure quality work is completed in a timely and safe manner.
· Must be able to manage multiple projects at the same time.
