Position Title: Process Engineer (Specialty Polymers)

Position Description:
The Process Engineer fulfills a technical leadership role in the Global Specialty Polymers Technology organization and is based in the company's Baton Rouge production facility. The position provides process optimization, troubleshooting, and project support to the site, and creates and disseminates new process technology within the organization. As a technical leader, this engineer also leads and mentors less experienced engineers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Optimize polymer processing operations
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems and improve operational performance
- Provide process design for small capital projects and lead project implementation
- Support new product/technology development and plant implementation (technology transfer, scale-up, leading plant trials of new products)
- Drive improvement within global specialty polymer manufacturing operations through technical innovation
- Manage site intellectual property obligations
- Provide mentoring & development to less experienced engineers
Background Requirements:
- BS/MS degree in Chemical Engineering
- Extensive process engineering experience (5-10+ years) in specialty polymer manufacturing
- Previous supervisory or technical leadership experience is beneficial
- Understanding of economic analysis and market issues related to the use, acquisition, and development of polymer technology
- Effective verbal and written skills for technical reports and technology rollout presentations at plant sites
- Strong leader and self starter, takes the initiative in applying, developing, and communicating technical issues
- Team player, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
