Process Improvement, Functional Blackbelt

Description:
This position has four major responsibilities. They are:
1. Management and responsibility of process improvement projects leading to the delivery of one or more of the following: improved student satisfaction, improved organizational efficiencies, improved organizational effectiveness. These projects will follow organizationally accepted methodologies such as, but not limited to, PMI, BPMS, DMAIC, Lean, and DMADV.
2. Documentation and status reporting of the aforementioned projects.
3. Proactive identification of process improvement enhancements to more efficiently serve the growing needs of the university.
4. Facilitation of individuals and/or teams using the aforementioned methodologies focused on specific organizational issues.

Upon maturing in the position, the Process Improvement BB will proactively identify and address issues that will be reported to business decision makers and initiate those recommendations in the most expedient manner, using the most effective methodology. The incumbent will accomplish this by drawing upon an acquired working knowledge of the organizational goals in relation to the performance of the related processes.

Typical activities include:
• Managing Projects
• Preparing and or updating process documentation, ensuring its relevance, completeness, and accuracy
• Ensuring Compliance with all external entities (such as but not limited to Sarbanes Oxley)
• Preparing and Reviewing regular reports ensuring completeness and accuracy prior to release
• Coaching of Process Owners, Champions, Greenbelts, Managers, etc.
• Supporting the Finance department as needed
• Proactive identification and communication and reporting of issues


A likely activities breakdown:
• Project Management 50%
• Coaching and Facilitation 30%
• Reporting and Analysis 20%

Qualifications:
Experience Required:
• Blackbelt Certification with demonstrated project savings required
• Three to five years of Service or Education Organization required
• Demonstrated increase in duties and responsibilities over the length of the professional career required
• Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment required
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Minitab, Visio, Project, Word and PowerPoint required
• Bachelors Degree in related field (Business, Engineering, Finance) required, An advanced degree is highly desirable
• Project Management Experience highly desirable
• Proven ability to function in an entrepreneurial environment by developing policies and procedure as the business changes and matures is highly desirable
• Proven ability to work within a matrix organization preferred

• Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, with an appreciation for the chain of command, so as to convey meaningful, timely, and actionable information
