Process and Quality Engineer

We are PartyLite Manufacturing and R&D located in Batavia, IL. a division of Blyth Inc., the $1+ Billion international leader in candle and fragrance products. We are looking to enhance our Engineering and Quality team.

 
POSITION SUMMARY 

Provide technical support and guidance for new products, line extensions, and product reformulations.  This position drives continuous technical improvements in products and formulations, production process yields, cost structure, and predictability of product/process quality and performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        The process/Quality engineer is responsible for supporting all manufacturing departments in yield improvements, GMP, process control, and for supporting R&D functions with technical expertise, guidance, and good laboratory practices and procedures.

·        Support R&D Lab and Quality Assurance Department in understanding candle combustion dynamics to improve burn quality.

·        Develops an understanding of candle raw materials applications and limitations to improve the utilization of alternative fuels available to the industry.

·        Sources necessary equipment required to implement process optimization or further improvements of finished good quality and performance.

• Establishes and communicates the parameters, run size and equipment requirements for all pilot run activities. Reviews the acceptability of process capabilities with the Operations group and Product Development group. Reviews the results and plans for modifications to subsequent runs.

• Interfaces with the Product Development Lab Manager, Quality Assurance Manager and R&D on matters relating to alternate material evaluation and qualification, process innovation and product enhancements. 

·        Aggressively support ongoing post launch product support and improvement programs to continue to improve product quality and manufacturability.

·        Establish and refine new product accessories to reduce critical failures.  Makes design improvement suggestions to corporate QA, sourcing, and engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university; an Engineering or Chemistry degree is preferred; and four to six years of quality/product development in a manufacturing environment.

• Sound Project Management skills.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and dynamic timelines.

• Good documentation skills and attention to detail.

• Advanced computer literacy in Excel, Word, and Access.

• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
