Procurement Specialist / Buyer

Modis is one of the world's largest and most respected providers of Information Technology Resource Management (ITRM) services and solutions.  Today, Modis delivers world-class ITRM solutions to over 2,000 clients in the United States, Canada, and Europe.  Currently we are looking for a Procurement Specialist/Buyer for one of our clients in Baltimore, MD. 


Job Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for a variety of contract administration, buying, and materials management activities to ensure flexible and fast response to internal customer needs.  The Buyer negotiates and executes contracts and purchases in accordance with Supply Chain Standards and processes.  Additional responsibilities include building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal customers and key suppliers, focusing on cost savings and total cost of ownership (TCO), supplier diversity, and on-time delivery of quality parts and services.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Develops the sourcing approach and strategies, and identifies and captures new sourcing opportunities where Supply Chain can add value and drive cost savings
  2. Negotiates prices, terms and conditions of purchase orders, contracts, warranties, and agreements in accordance with Supply Chain standards, processes, and Delegation of Financial Authority (DOFA)
  3. Prepares requests for proposal/quotation, and analyzes and evaluates multi-supplier responses
  4. Ensures on-time delivery of quality parts and services
  5. Prepares award recommendations that incorporate total cost of ownership, and places purchase orders, contracts, change-in-orders, and Master Agreements
  6. Supports category purchasing efforts
  7. Ensures supplier performance measures (e.g., scorecards) are developed, monitored, and delivered to both customer units and suppliers
  8. Support inventory goals as outlined in balanced scorecard to support warehouse operations
  9. Reviews all contract documents and ensures supplier compliance with terms and conditions
  10. Consults with Legal and Risk Management if any of the approved terms and conditions needs to be modified
  11. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal customers and key suppliers
  12. Develops supplier diversity opportunities by identifying new and/or alternative suppliers, and identifies and commercially qualifies new suppliers
  13. Assists customers in the development of procurement technical specifications and establishes procurement schedules
  14. Develops presentations and presents recommended Supply Chain solutions in a clear, concise, and effective manner to leadership to gain understanding and support
  15. Collaborates with customer and proposes alternate solutions
  16. Other duties as required
