Product Category Manager
Mechanicsville, VA 23116

This position is responsible for the implementation and on-going management of specific FOCUS & MediChoice product categories to support the corporate-wide category management strategy. Partners with internal and external customers to implement the tools necessary to support product categorization and vendor/SKU rationalization. Interfaces with product pricing teams to ensure cost efficient and uniform application of processes and procedures. Benchmarks internally and externally on best practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Communicates and implements the corporate-wide category management strategy. Develops MediChoice and FOCUS programs, to implement a categorization process that supports overall corporate goals.
  2. Partners with product/pricing teams to ensure uniform application of product descriptions for new MediChoice SKU's.
  3. Create and maintain MediChoice and FOCUS programs to ensure corporate goals.
  4. Provides feedback on strategies and tactics for resolving FOCUS and MediChoice supplier compliance issues to the Vice President of Supplier Relations. Manages implementation of recommendations. Coordinates with in-house Risk Management and Legal as needed.
  5. Implements, documents, maintains and audits SKU, supplier reduction and rationalization programs, partners with Distribution Center and Field Management to communicate process enhancements.
  6. Analyze data and use negotiation skills to recommend best value business partners for MediChoice and FOCUS.
  7. Implements processes for providing correct and timely information to update OMNI vendor file, identifies and implements ways to increase system efficiencies.
  8. Assists and prepares presentations to be delivered to senior management, and field teammates on SKU FOCUS and MediChoice initiatives.

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides monthly status updates to senior management.
  2. Performs additional duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:

Broad knowledge of a discipline such as chemical, distribution, electrical, or mechanical engineering, behavioral science, finance or business administration. Equal to a complete 4 year college or university education.

B. WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least three to five years of healthcare industry experience required.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Demonstrated understanding of the interaction between distributor, hospital, clinician and Group Purchasing Organization.

Demonstrated ability to craft and implement business strategyEffective verbal and written communication skills.Effective persuasion and negotiation skills.Ability to analyze and conclude.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
