Product Designer, Commercial Floor Products Lancaster, PA Armstrong Floor Products, a division of Armstrong World Industries, is seeking a designer for our commercial flooring products. This position is the driving force for the color and design of our commercial floors and an opportunity to work with the leader in the Commercial flooring industry. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Commercial Product Design, this highly visible position routinely interacts with interior designers, sales, new product development engineers, marketing product managers, manufacturing leaders, 3rd party sourcers, vendors, company executives and customers. The work includes travel to customer and supplier sites and trade exhibitions nationally and abroad. Responsibilities Your central challenges center on enhancing and executing designs in the commercial portfolio. The typical duties are defined below. - Recommends product lines that offer design excellence in the floor industry
- Sets color direction for floor products
- Attends design shows, trade shows, customer visits, and commercial interiors visits, then interprets visits and provides feedback to business
- Creates floor prototypes
- Seeks out new color, texture, format, visual trends which apply to commercial interiors
- Creates compatible color palettes and surface designs for commercial markets
- Creates new surface designs that are ready for floors
Ideally, we are looking for a Designer with a BA / BS degree in graphical design / fine arts, or equivalent experience, with 5 to 7 years of commercial interior design, product design or surface design experience in surface design, flooring products or similar interior products. Knowledge of project management is expected in this position. Executive level presentation skills are a must. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, gather competitive intelligence and an understanding of correct execution for manufacturable design are the foundational proficiencies for this opportunity. Advanced proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is required. Experience with vinyl products and surface design is ideal.
