Henkel’s business unit Adhesive Electronics (AE) has pioneered enabling material systems for electronics assembly and semiconductor packaging. They help to make electronic devices smaller, lighter, more effective and reliable. Adhesive Electronics supplies electronic materials for two main markets\: Electronics assembly & Semiconductor assembly Consumer electronics, industrial electronics and automotive electronics are among the assembly markets that are served by Henkel. Any application that requires joining, bonding, adhering or protecting an electronic assembly will benefit from Henkel’s electronic materials such as assembly adhesives, inks & coatings, display materials, CSP underfills, chip-on-board encapsulants, PCB protection materials, solder materials, surface mount adhesives and thermal management materials. Applications are, for example, mobile devices, automotive electronics, displays or solar modules. The position is situated at Irvine Product Development Center.



What we offer

An expert in coatings, encapsulation and adhesive polymer formulations for printed circuit boards and electronic devices is needed to lead the product development team of a market focused product development program. This person must lead the conception and development of advanced materials exhibiting the state of the art performance under wide ranging process conditions, application methods for new device/board concepts. Strong background in adhesive polymer chemistry such as Acrylics, Slicone, Epoxy, Polyurethane, BMI, etc. along with good inter personal skills are required to succeed in this position. This position will take a lead role in driving the product development for highly dynamic consumer electronics market. This person will drive active collaboration with top customers


Who we are looking for

PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Sciences, Materials Science, or in any other related scientific areas, preferred but not required.
Significant experience (greater than 5 years) Polymer formulations is required. Candidate with M. S. or B. S. degree with track record of 10-15 years of successful Product Development in the relevant area may be considered.
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
Ability to manage medium size team of scientist and technicians.
Ability to influence without direct authority needed.
Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
The ability to design and implement experiments is essential.
Professional laboratory skills essential.
The ability to work autonomously on multiple projects is essential Duties
Design, develop and support on-time commercialization of new thermal products. • Work directly with the Market Development Manager (MDM) and Henkel customers as the technical project lead to identify, qualify, close and maintain business.
Identify new opportunities for product development efforts and manage Development Project teams to bring these opportunities to fruition.
Develop and conduct technical training on Henkel technology for Henkel personnel and customers.
Travel with Global Key Account Managers (GKAM) and sales personnel to develop first-hand understanding of customer's needs and application details.
Provide mentoring and technical advise to junior Product Development chemists and scientists on electronics industry practices and trends.
Promote the use of Henkel technology through direct contact with customers, sales training, and technical presentations before professional societies.
Drive and determination to achieve Initiates and directs activities for self and is role model regarding standards of performance for colleagues in product development.
