Progressive International Corporation, is a mid-sized company specializing in products for the kitchen and home seeks a Product Manager.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for successfully leading product development planning and execution activities to launch assigned product lines or projects, including consumer research, idea generation, new product development and product life cycle management to support and meet the Company's business strategy. Champion team collaboration to make effective decisions and meet deadlines in all phases of the product development process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Lead the product development management process and champion team collaboration to successfully execute product launches to achieve product targets, effective decision making and meet deadlines in all phases of the product development process.

2. Conduct research and analysis to understand consumer problems, behaviors and lifestyle. Research may include but not limited to ethnographic, focus groups, surveys, market surveys and consumer purchasing decisions research.

3. Compile and maintain competitive retail market analysis including competitive SWOT analysis, retail pricing and market or patent intelligence to support the market positioning of the product launch.

4. Manage product life cycle including category analysis, identifying new product opportunities, product line maintenance, discontinuations and recommendations for extending the product life cycle of a given.  Take appropriate actions and recommendations as necessary.

5. Manage and develop product design briefs in collaboration with Industrial Designers and other team members to meet company objectives - outlining research, identifying consumer problems, market opportunity, product specification requirements, customer/sales feedback, risk evaluation and ROI analysis.

6. Strategize and develop annual launch plans in collaboration with team members for timely product launches to be presented to the Management Team.  Recommendation requires understanding of consumer needs and desires, customer/sales opportunities, competition, internal capabilities, material knowledge, manufacturing capabilities and cross-functional discipline to support recommendations.

7. Lead in brainstorming sessions to generate new product ideas and opportunities.  Participate in brand strategy direction discussions and support maintaining brand equity.

8. Manage and initiate packaging design briefs to collaborate and provide the creative department with key product information and copy used in the development of product packaging or other products related literature to clearly communicate features and benefits of products to improve product placement, including an understanding of competitor packaging.

9. Lead project teams in critical data analysis and decision making stage gates through out the product development process including but not limited to evaluations during tooling form approval, product approvals and recommendations on final recommendations related to product launch decisions and best outcomes of situation.

10. Collaborate with team members to provide proper hand-off to the Global Sourcing team related to product set-up, ordering inventory and product quality issues.

11. Work closely with Industrial Designers and other team members to test and approve new products; ensuring each product launched maintains the appropriate quality standard.

12. Negotiate new products pricing to ensure most competitive FOB pricing in conjunction with Supply Chain Manager and/or Asia office.

13. Perform line reviews for each product category summarizing prior year performance, including line item sales trends, key customer dynamics and competitive analysis; recommended action plans to the Management team annually.

14. Set list prices on all new products, ensuring fulfillment of Company gross margin goals and competition factors. Define performance criteria for products by category, channel, sales/profit volume and Private label modifications as applicable.

15. Support Marketing and Sales in new product training and other key product launch related activities as necessary.
