An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Product Development Specialist - Catalysts & Zeolytes within UOP's manufacturing facility in Mobile, AL.  
 
Position responsibilities:  
  • Will Plan, execute and analyze development studies with Product Technology Technician staff to successfully scale-up new Catalyst & Zeolyte products.

  • Will analyze the performance of manufacturing equipment.

  • Plan and conduct work that requires selection and modification of standard research techniques.

  • Engage in solving problems using judgment to make modifications to processes.

  • Receive minimal supervision to perform most assignments where the expected result is identified in general terms.

  • Contribute to one or more formally chartered Product Development project teams.

  • Under minimal supervision, works from policies and procedures to meet development goals.

  • Will be accountable for HSE procedures of all operations under his/her direction.

  • Contribute short-term project ideas in existing markets to reduce cost, improve quality, and achieve growth for the Strategic Business Unit.

  • Provide development catalysts, adsorbents and materials to R&D, and other units as appropriate.

  • Contribute ideas to improve experimental procedures or equipment used by the department.

  • Recommend and support manufacturing trials.

  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing plant.

  • Monitor Patents, Literature and the Industry for process, materials and manufacturing technology changes as either opportunities or threats.

  • Contribute invention disclosures and patents to protect UOP/Honeywell technology.

  • Provide occasional field services support to our customers.

  • Represent UOP to customers, contractors, and suppliers.

  • At advanced level, may lead formally chartered project teams.

  • Use Six Sigma principles/tools for continuous improvement to maximize the return on resources (people, processes and assets).




Basic Candidate Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required. 

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a chemical R&D or manufacturing environment is required. This experience can include engineering coop assignments.

  • US work authorization.

Additional Candidate Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree in Chemical Engineering is considered a plus.

  • Experience with zeolyte synthesis is considered ideal.

  • Strong technical and communication skills.

  • The ability to interface with multiple functions including R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing....

  • Six Sigma Certification preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
