What You'll Do At the John Deere Technology and Innovation Center an Energy Storage Engineer works closely with electrification and embedded systems teams to identify, recommend, and develop technology development solutions for integrating electrical energy storage systems into Deere products. In addition you will: - Perform project work -
- primarily in the evaluation and characterization of lithium technology and ultra-capacitors for the integration into systems for product applications.
- collaborate with and implement solutions at various division and laboratory locations internal and external to Deere. This will involve travel to various locations throughout Deere (potentially 30% plus).
- Prepare projects for approval and for collaboration in the energy storage field.
- Perform analysis and testing of energy storage systems.
- Develop and share analysis tools for systems solutions.
- Use systems tools to provide design direction and for improved product performance, quality, and cost.
- Develop and perform system verification and validation for proposed energy storage solutions.
What It Takes
We need an excellent communicator who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally you will have a BS/MS Degree in Electrical Engineering or in Systems Engineering with an EE concentration. In addition we require: - Electrochemical energy storage experience and substantial knowledge of various battery and other energy storage systems (primarily lithium ion and lithium polymer systems).
- Electrical Engineering competency at the MS or BS level.
- Systems Engineering knowledge.
- Project management capability.
A strong candidate will also have experience in testing, evaluating, and characterizing advanced batteries/capacitors, familiarity or experience with energy management models, impedance spectroscopy, accelerated life testing, and the USABC requirements/guidelines for battery systems.
