Product Manager, Decision Support Systems

The product management organization in the Products and Technology group is responsible for consolidating Vaisala's group wide product level roadmaps in cooperation with Product Creation, Business Areas & Market Segments, Sales, Marketing and Services.

We are looking for a Product Manager, Decision Support Systems, to join the Data Collection Systems and Displays Product Management team. The position is located in Boulder, Colorado, US. The team is responsible for the portfolio of software systems and display products to primarily support data service and solution sales in meteorological and weather critical applications.

Product Manager, DSS Position Overview: 

As a product manager, the successful candidate will be the product owner through the product lifecycle. The role is to manage the products in the specified product line aligned with overall Vaisala strategy, priorities and roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

• Product Business owner for his/her products.
• Developing and consolidating product roadmaps and strategies with market segments.
• Proactively implementing product manager tasks in the product creation process.
• Developing product requirements, including customer convenience, serviceability, and manufacturability.
• Establishing product differentiation and positioning with market segments and services.
• Developing launch plans and key messaging for your products.
• Developing needed product specific sales support and sales training material.
• Tracking and monitoring competitors.
• Supporting sales in product related technical issues.
• Ensuring needed product & service training and training materials.
• Responsibility for his/her product line including related hardware, software, and services during the entire product life cycle.

Requirements:

• A temporary assignment in Vaisala’s Thunderstorm Systems product management is required as part of the initial training period.  
• Engineering Degree
• Strong experience in product management
• Understanding of software based products and their management 
• Strong skills in product development processes
• Experience with software solutions in aviation, energy, defense, traffic management, meteorology, or hydrology would be excellent background
• Experience in an agile product development environment is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong skills in functional cooperation in a matrix organization.
• Fluent English
• Willingness to travel domestically as well as internationally
