Job Summary


 


The Product Manager performs with limited supervision and is responsible for analyzing data, examining trends, market conditions, and results to recommend and implement changes to existing automobile programs to maximize profit and growth.


 


Responsibilities


 



  1. Analyze data, examine trends, market conditions, and results to recommend and implement changes to existing automobile programs to maximize profit and growth.
  2. Conduct competitor studies in conjunction with actuarial indications, claims trends, underwriting initiatives, regulatory and legal environments.
  3. Communicate results, conclusions, and recommendations for improvement in a clear and concise fashion.
  4. Implement changes and coordinate activities with marketing, underwriting, and systems to ensure effective implementation.

 


 Qualifications/Requirements



  1. Four year college degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Statistics, or demonstrated commensurate experience.
  2. Insurance training or related experience demonstrated by Program in General Insurance Courses (INS) Courses, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Courses, Agent Licensing or other recognized training or certification.
  3. Three to five years of progressively responsible management experience in a corporate environment.
  4. Three or more years of experience with a demonstrated aptitude in market research, financial analysis, and/or insurance principles.
  5. Product or Actuarial Analyst, or other Insurance Discipline with demonstrated advancement through increased responsibilities.
  6. Experience in implementing a credit based insurance rating system.
  7. The position requires a strong analytic background with knowledge of competitors, automobile rating systems, coverages, market conditions, and state requirements.
  8. The product manager should be attentive to detail in implementing changes and coordinating activities with marketing, underwriting, and systems. 
  9. Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  10. General knowledge of AS-400 and data management.
  11. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms and quadratic equations to such tasks as determination of test validity, analysis of variance, correlation of techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
  12. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific/technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.  Ability to respond to inquiry or complaints.  Ability to effectively present information to top management and Insurance Departments.
  13. Ability to use and operate a computer at a high skill level.
