The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for managing the support of a multi-million tax and accounting product line – which includes hundreds of eBooks/Books, Journals & Newsletters. This role will be directly responsible for the analysis of their product suites performance and has financial oversight of the product lines. Maintains close relationship with the market (customers, evaluators, and potentials) for awareness of market needs and perspectives. This includes identification of appropriate markets and development of effective marketing strategies and tactics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Create and maintain business case for current product lines as well as build/buy/partner decisions. This includes performing objective analysis of a potential market opportunity and risks to provide a basis for investment.
· Complete analysis of product suite including performance, financial results, and operational metrics and make recommendations on opportunities for margin improvement and retention strategies.
· Complete analysis on market size and growth, market share and account penetration by segment, and customer needs and purchase behaviors.
· Develop expertise of relevant market segments, market problems, customer workflows, competitive environment and industry trends.
· Documenting market problems (both existing customers and future customers).
· Develop and recommend overall pricing strategy for product line as well as individual products.
· Document CMS’s value proposition to the market for assigned product line and individual products.
· Document strategic vision for maximizing our share of the customer segment including product offerings, strategic alliances, and growth opportunities in conjunction with Director Product Management and Marketing.
· Determine the most effective way to deliver a complete solution to an identified market problem in conjunction with Director of Product Management and Marketing. Where there are gaps in our offering; analyzing whether to buy, build, or partner to complete the solution for our market in conjunction with the Director Product Management and Marketing.
· Translate market/segment trends based upon customer interviews and market research into regular and quantifiable information communicated cross-functionally.
· Conduct win/loss analysis and customer interviews.
· Working with other product management staff to assure consistency across product lines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or related field preferred, OR, if no degree, 10 years of product management experience is required
· MBA preferred
· Pragmatic Marketing Certification preferred
Required Experience: 5 years of product management experience including experience in:
· B2B marketing across multiple customer segments
· Creating and executing annual business and product plans
· Using financial concepts including revenue projections, costing, budgeting, etc.
· Analysis and problem solving
· Conducting and interpreting market research (quantitative and qualitative)
· Communicating information to various audiences orally and in writing
· Preparing and presenting complex information to senior management and large groups
· Working within tight deadlines and managing multiple, complex projects
· Working with and leading cross-functional groups and developing strong relationships with internal and external constituents
Preferred Experience: 5+ years of product management experience in the following industries:
· Tax and accounting
· CPA market
Tools:
· Microsoft Office; intermediate level skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Travel:
· Up to 15% travel required, including some overnight and nationwide
