Purpose:

The Product / Test Engineer is responsible for implementing the manufacturing test strategy for new product developments and works closely with the customer Engineering teams during the requirements definition in order to provide technical support for the test processes within the manufacturing facilities to ensure that testability/manufacturability concerns are addressed early in the design cycle, proper analysis of root cause and implementation of short and long-term corrective actions in order to improve product quality.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Handle product transfer and new product set up.
  • Support production by assessing highly complex product engineering issues that arise on production line.
  • Improve process, quality and production yield.
  • Examine methodologies to maximize debug, integration and verification efficiency.
  • Solve product related problems and perform failure analysis related to product issues.
  • Interact with customer and various departments on product related issues – engineering changes, new model development.
  • Manage company-approved processes.
  • Provide training to the debug technicians and develop better understanding of the product.
  • Work with design team to resolve design related issues.
  • Participating in daily conference calls and drive open product & test issues to closure with customer and site.
  • Designing and conducting experiments and analyzing results, recommending and implementing changes to improve test efficiency.
  • Data mining to determine product and/or Test system capability.
  • Leading the transfer product & test knowledge to Flextronics sites
  • Piloting changes in test HW, test SW and MFI
  • Conducting tester validation, negative samples, GRR
  • Participating in troubleshooting of test system issues observed during ramp
  • Drive legacy product improvements through the reduction of NDF/NDRs, RIP mitigation
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineer back round preferred
  • Experience of RF testing and wireless protocols would be an advantage
  • Manage cost reduction activities in areas like material, inventory, and scrap reduction.
  • Suggest modification to work instructions, material or product changes so as to ensure superior quality of products.
  • Work up front with the customer to ensure a diagnosable and testable product
  • Develop and maintain test specifications and documentation
  • Verify initial products and identify manufacturability, testability, design and process deficiencies
  • Support and identify process improvements without sacrificing quality
  • Analyze and improve test yields
  • Analyze and resolve test rejects and other system related failures
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is performed and equipment uptime is improved
  • Develop cost effective methods for testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment
  • Develop test and diagnostic programs
  • Analyze and resolve test rejects and other system related failures
  • Analyze and improve test yield
  • Provide leadership/mentor-ship to junior Engineers


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical o Electronics preferred.
  • 6+ years work experience Product/Test Engineering in Mobiles Industry as a plus.
  • Highly developed analytical, written/oral communication skills; with strong quantitative skills required
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously while maintaining commitments required
  • Must demonstrate the ability to achieve measurable cost reductions
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Availability to change residence to Guadalajara, Jalisco. México
