Production Artist/FT/Northern, VA Area

Strayer University's Marketing team has an exciting opportunity for a creative forward-thinking individual to join the Corporate Marketing team located the Washington, DC/Northern, VA Metro Area.

The Production Artist will have the opportunity to further Strayer's brand and creative strategy by creating complex graphics and files for print and assisting the team with the maintenance of software and hardware for Mac computers. Please note this is not a Graphic/Media/Web Designer position.

On an ongoing basis, this position is responsible for:
- Creating electronic layouts and executing concepts based on design guidance and graphics for advertising, presentations and collateral.
- Performing retouching/manipulation of images ensuring that projects are created to specification and suitable for releasing to vendors for production.
- Creating internal and external presentations using PowerPoint to include static images, video and music and generating electronic forms using Acrobat, Word and Excel.
- Correcting electronic files based on feedback, updates image library, including photos and logos and archives materials.
- Setting up and maintaining equipment, to include computers, servers, color printers, scanners and other devices.
- Assisting in developing systemic solutions to project management and production challenges, such as increasing efficiency, acts as liaison to Information Technology department, and selects software and hardware
- Assisting in developing systemic solutions to project management and production challenges, such as increasing efficiency.

To perform this job successfully, qualified candidates will possess:

- 3-4 years of experience as a Production Artist and a four-year degree in graphic design, fine arts, marketing, or advertising or other related field experience.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously to timely and accurate completion.
- Visual and conceptual problem solving skills, including the ability to produce a variety of solutions to any given problem, both independently and within a team setting.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office and the ability to successfully troubleshoot Mac computer systems
- Knowledge of the printing process and experience at press checks.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
- A strong production and technology (Mac) background is strongly preferred. Experience with HTML and Flash and web publishing experience is a plus.
