THE POSITION
The Production Manager reports directly to the Site Operations Manager and is responsible for managing all activities at a diatomaceous earth (DE) and perlite processing facility located in Lovelock, NV. The Production Manager will be a key member of the Site Leadership Team and will provide strategic leadership and direction in aligning this plant with the division’s business strategies and goals.
The Production Manager has responsibility for a staff of approximately 50 employees in a unionized continuous flow facility operating on a 24 X 7 schedule.
Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Kiln Operations: Ensures that all kilns operate according to Standard Operating Procedures and meet demand.
Production Planning: Ensure that all plans are in accordance with Customer needs and do not exceed output capacity
Shipping: Manages shipping process to include all material handling and ensuring on time delivery of all products.
ISO/Quality Compliance: Ensures that raw material, in-process-testing, production and shipping process meet all ISO and Quality audit standards.
Training and Development: Work with Human Resources and Operations to develop and facilitate Training Program that provides depth and versatility for all new and advancing employees. Identifies training and development needs, develop plans and establish performance metrics to meet those needs, and provide ongoing assessment tools to ensure desired results are being achieved.
Staffing and Employment: Oversees the facilities staffing function including interviewing, hiring, training and development in an effort to retain and develop the best talent for the organization.
Employee Relations: Promotes a positive employee environment insuring a continuation of the solid working relationship with the union.
Budgetary Management: Manage the following budgetary areas:
a) Production Goals
b) Cost per Ton
c) Tons Shipped
d) On Time Shipments
e) Customer Complaints
THE CANDIDATE
The Production Manager must have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in a manufacturing culture focused on safety, reliability, and process improvement. Ideally this experience will include mining and industrial minerals processing. Experience should include a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in a leadership capacity.
Other requirements include:
§ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent required.
§ Ability to blend coaching, managing and recruiting to effectively drive improved results, develop followers and strengthen the operations team
§ Exceptional organization skills
§ Ability to drive organizational change and build a strong operations team
§ Passion for results and demand for excellence
§ Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications
