J&J Snack Foods has been in business since 1971. We are a growth-oriented snack food manufacturer with an emphasis in R&D and QA. We focus on bringing to market innovative niche products with an equally strong emphasis in customer satisfaction. We are listed on the NASDAQ exchange as "JJSF" and serve both national and international markets. Our LA-area plant is currently seeking a motivated Production Manager to manage production operations, guide and train employee, and be responsible for product quality and worker safety.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:

Manage/run all facets of production operations in bakery department:

Train and instruct all department personnel on the requirements of their job, to include: safety training, operation of equipment, GMPs, quality, and any other requirement as needed.

Monitor lines for efficiencies.

Input shift reports on daily basis.

Follow daily production schedule and notify Plant Management and Scheduling if shortages occur.

Make department recommendations for improvements in efficiencies and safety.

Evaluate production employees to ensure safety; quality, and productivity are met.

Evaluate daily crewing sheets to ensure proper crewing levels are maintained.

Monitor product quality and address any deficiencies.

Report daily production deficiencies and follow-up with recommendations for improvement.

Maintain high sanitary standards as required in the food manufacturing industry and be ready for third party audits and regulatory inspections at all times.

Notify maintenance and follow-up with work orders on any repair or improvement to a production line.

Work closely with Quality Assurance to maintain high product quality.

Properly identify and tag rework for allergen identification.

Identify plan to expedite use of rework product in an acceptable manner considering allergen constraints.

Monitor dept. for accuracy: (example: codes correct, pkg. correct, dates correct)

Inspect production area and ensure equipment and personnel are working in a safe manner.

Enforce all company rules, policies, and procedures & provide disciplinary action when necessary.

Immediately investigate all types of accidents, such as worker comp injuries & property damage, and report to appropriate Manager.

Communicate with Plant Manager & other Production Managers to ensure smooth transition at changing of shifts.

Follows all OSHA safety rules, GMPs, and all food safety laws and regulations.

Enforces all company rules in a fair and consistent manner.

Other duties as assigned.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 3 yrs production management experience in the food manufacturing industry - preferably in bakery &/or food service.

Must understand bakery and packaging equipment and production principles for a fast-paced multi-line operation.

Ability to handle multi-line functions, ie, production, quality and safety.

Must be able to analyze data and make adjustments accordingly.

Must be able to run production equipment, and work in hot and cold environments.

Must possess GMP & HAACP knowledge and have 3rd-party audit experience.

High School Diploma or GED / AIB and SQF training a plus.

AIB & SQF certification strongly desired.

Working knowledge of measuring & temperature equipment.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Computer literate.

Must be available to work any shift.
