Position Summary: Machine Operator - Performs production activities requiring the operation of one or more machines/equipment in support of an entire manufacturing or process system and assuming various team roles in a team based environment. Understands production processes and safety and quality goals/standards. Position Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for following Unilever safety, health and environment regulations. 2. Performs a wide variety of production activities requiring in-depth knowledge of a variety of related processes, operations, equipment and assumes various team roles in a team based environment. Examples: Knowledge of multiple machine operations and material handling. 3. Under limited supervision assists in providing guidance/training to less experienced operators in the operation of equipment and processes. 4. Demonstrates leadership in support of the effective delivery of plant and team results. Recognized as a technical expert in one or more production system and capable of effectively operating a variety of machines. 5. Able to use a computer to perform a variety of operational functions and reports. 6. Troubleshoots more complex equipment/process problems and prepares recommendations for improvements in methods or processes relative to improved productivity and quality. 7. Performs equipment change over’s and minor equipment maintenance. 8. Accurately completes a variety of paperwork/documentation. 9. Reads and comprehends work instructions and may assist in the development of systems and procedures. 10. Responsible for performing housekeeping and sanitation duties and other duties as assigned. Education: High School diploma or equivalent Experience: Requires one year manufacturing experience. Requires a broad working knowledge of operational systems, machines, manufacturing and/or process systems and an in-depth knowledge of a variety of related processes, operations and equipment normally obtained through at least 1 year of experience. Experienced in operating a variety of machines. Must read and comprehend written specifications in the English language. Must be able to accurately communicate information verbally and in writing. Must be able to respond to random events and resolve operating problems. Assignments require: • Standing on a concrete floor and wearing proper PPE (i.e. hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, sanitary gloves, and safety shoes). • Willing and able to work overtime, to adapt to abrupt schedule changes, to accept second or third shift, accept 8 or 12-hour schedules and weekend work assignments. • Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs, and minor lifting (<50 lbs). • Some assignments require frequent walking. • Some assignments include occasional exposure to excessive heat and cold similar to outside temperatures • Forklift assignment requires getting on and off forklift frequently.
