    Lehigh Hanson is seeking a qualified Plant Manager for its Glens Falls, NY Cement Plant location.

    Lehigh Hanson is one of the world's largest suppliers of heavy building materials to the construction industry. We produce aggregates (crushed rock, sand and gravel), ready-mixed and precast concrete, asphalt and cement-related materials and a range of building products including concrete pipes, concrete pavers, tiles and clay bricks.

    The Production Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision and support to the Operating, Maintenance and Contractor shift personnel to achieve the goals of the production departments

    * Supervises and directs Central Control Room Operators, Shift Operators, Shift Material Operators, and Shift Lab Composition personnel.
    * Ensures production and quality requirements are met or exceeded in compliance with all governmental and company mandated rules and regulations.
    * Supervises the operation of the entire plant by using a sophisticated and computerized process control system.
    * Responsible for on-line process, quality and equipment failure analysis, and the corresponding corrective action.
    * Ensures timely call-out of maintenance personnel. Generates work order requests and participates in daily maintenance/process planning meetings.
    * Supervises equipment outage remedial work.
    * Prepares operating shift logs.
    * Interfaces with plant technical support groups on operational matters.
    * Administers and controls department absenteeism and overtime.
    * Ensures a safe work environment with no lost time accidents.
    * Ensure compliance with plant policies & procedures, safety, environmental, state, and federal process regulations.
    * Follows existing work schedule and performs project work and vacation relief on rotation assignments.
    * Facilitates scheduled departmental and safety meetings.
    * Supervises daily shift changeover meetings between shift personnel
    * Supervises contractors for maintenance projects as required.
    * Coordinate and implement small projects.
    * This position works in rotating 12 hour shifts.

    • A minimum of 4 years supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred.
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • Must be able to supervise and troubleshoot all different kinds of technical, operational, quality, and environmental problems.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and interact as a team member.
    • Excellent supervisory, leadership, problem solving, analytical, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
    • Proficient with window based PC software, maintenance and inventory computer programs.
    • Ability to make timely and critical decisions - able to work under conditions of stress and deal with a multitude of tasks simultaneously.
    • Knowledge of Total Quality Management with the ability to work in a Total Quality environment
    • Must be detail oriented with a high degree of self-motivation
    • Will be expected to develop* and demonstrate a satisfactory working knowledge and technical understanding of:
    -cement manufacturing process and its equipment, process control system, and lab systems.
    -chemistry of raw mix, clinker and cement.

    *The company will provide relevant training courses to individuals that demonstrate satisfactory levels of understanding on the following tests: Industrial Reading Comprehension, Pattern Series, Perceptual Speed & Accuracy, and Math Test for Industry.

    Physical requirements of the job include: standing, sitting, and climbing frequently, entering into confined spaces, occassional lifting and crawling.
