PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directs activities through subordinate and lead personnel consistent with safety, quality, cost, productivity, and policy and delivery requirements. Reviews and establishes material, equipment and manpower resource requirements. Develops and establishes departmental standards and practices. Coordinates production activities with other functions such as production planning, material, marketing, new product development, product testing, customer service, manufacturing engineering and inspection
MAJOR DUTIES:
1. Establish aggressive and imaginative manufacturing goals and controls which are consistent with company objectives.
2. With the collaboration of the Production Manager help to recommend and establish policies and procedures for designated production areas.
3. Manage guide, train, and support individuals reporting directly to him/her.
4. Participate in any/all production meetings.
5. Troubleshoot problems causing delays of tasks and projects, where a high level of technical knowledge and capability are required.
6. Forecast manpower, equipment and supplies needed for projects, objectives and goals.
7. Prepare and conduct performance evaluations of subordinates that report directly to him/her.
8. Responsible for making recommendations for external training of subordinates.
9. Conduct disciplinary action of personnel reporting directly to him/her.
10. Operate designated operation area within approved budget guidelines. (labor, materials)
11. Responsible for the successful management and operation of Processing and/or Packaging operations. (AM or PM shifts). Included are maintenance, material and shipping operations on second shift.
12. Accountable for the training of department personnel/staff with regards to procedures, methods, policy, equipment operation, new products, GMP’s and safe working practices.
13. Responsible for USDA interaction.
14. Responsible for insuring that all product specifications and standards set forth by R&D and Quality Assurance are followed and that any deviation from those standards are reported immediately to the Production Manager and that immediate action in those process areas affected is taken, up to and including the immediate termination of all process operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Min of 2 yrs Food Manufacturing Supervisory/Management experience.
2. 2 yrs of College Degree preferred.
3. Thorough knowledge of food manufacturing processes and operation
4. Experienced with computer systems
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
