The Production Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of production areas. This includes leading hourly associates in the area to produce planned production needs in a safe, sanitary, and efficient manner. The Supervisor also acts as a business manager for their area and should take the initiative to make decisions (within the limits of the Union Contract, Dannon Policy, and their Supervisor’s direction) with an eye towards continuous improvement in all key performance areas for their department.
Responsibilities:
1.) Safety – The Supervisor is responsible for leading the way in Safety for his/her department. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
A.) Holding daily discussions regarding safety with hourly associates in the department.
B.) Making periodic Safety walks through the area to ensure that work is being completed in a safe manner and that
All employees are complying with OSHA regulations and ensuring that all associates assigned to that job are using
proper PPE for the job.
C.) Immediately abating hazards by working with area mechanic or, if necessary, by submitting and following up on
Work Orders until the hazard(s) is/are abated.
D.) Conducting WISE Observations and ensure that all hourly associates receive all of their required safety training
Including successfully completing their required JSAs, CBT (if necessary), and all hands on training in areas such as
Lockou/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Powered Lift Truck, Etc. Also, revising all JSAs and department Safety
regulations as needed to reflect changed in procedures within the department.
F.) Develop and execute Action Plans to meet the plant and department’s Safety goals as they relate to Total Injury Rate (TIR) and OSHA recordables.
2.) Quality – The Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and improving BOTH the Quality and Safety of the finished product leaving his/her area. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
A.) Ensuring that all GMP’s are adhered to while the product is being produced.
B.) Conducting weekly GMP audits of the department with an hourly associate and turning paperwork into the QA
department.
C.) Managing the sanitation function in his/her department by reviewing daily sanitation efforts to ensure compliance
with GMP’s and Food Safety guidelines set forth by QA, Production Management, or Corporate individuals with the
responsibility for Food Safety at the plant level.
D.) Training of all hourly associates on Food Quality issues to help ensure proper batching of the product.
F.) Routine checks of paperwork to ensure Departmental and Quality SOPs are followed. Examples include checking for
proper lot tracking, scale checks, time/temperature requirements are met, Etc.
3.) Reliability – The Supervisor is responsible for maximizing his/her line’s efficiency through application of DamAway and
QCDM tools and other measures. Specific duties include, but are not limited too:
A.) Develop and implement long-term area plans for safety, quality and efficiency improvements.
B.) Communicate and follow-up as needed with area mechanics and Maintenance Supervision to conduct PMs, fix broken equipment, and develop better methods of producing products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A.) 2 or 4-year college degree.
B.) Intermediate Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
C.) Knowledge of business strategy, acumen in a food/beverage/dairy environment.
D.) Experience in Team Building, Time Management, Meeting Facilitation, and Efficiency initiatives a plus.
