The Program Coordinator/Teacher for the Autism Program at Glyndon will be responsible for the overall academic program planning, direction, and evaluation of the assigned educational program. Monitors the academic and administrative aspects of the program. Provides individualized and group instruction that meets students' needs. Counsels, tutors, and determines action to be implemented for students in academic or behavioral crisis. Communicates with students based on an understanding of the developmental needs of children and adolescents. Supervises program staff.
Must possess professional level of knowledge and Maryland State Department of Education certification in special education, which would be acquired by completing a bachelor's degree program. Must possess MSDE certification in Special Education in the area of emotional disturbance within two to four years of employment, as determined by MSDE evaluation of the individual's credentials, and must maintain certification continuously thereafter as a condition of employment. Individual required to obtain Masters degree within time frame specified by the Maryland State Department of Education.
