The Program Manager will drive and manage approved R&D programs, and will be responsible for the management, performance and timely completion of engineering programs ranging from new product development to major product upgrades to system level solutions. The Program Manager may be responsible for matrix managing project managers and subject matter experts in hardware, firmware, software, finance, IT, operations and labs. The successful candidate must understand how to lead people from all departments, and must have an ability to understand people, their behavior, and their motives and be able to draw team members forward to achieve solutions, and results.

Main Areas of Responsibilities:

·          Leads high-level sessions for program plan and schedule development.

·          Reviews/approves project plans for conformance to program strategy and program plan and schedule.

·          Acts as the communications conduit to executive sponsors and program steering committee and conducts periodic briefings/status updates.

·          Coordinates and prioritizes multiple resources across projects, managing links between the projects and the overall costs and risks of the program.

·          Internal coordination of all project activities with sales/marketing, engineering, customer service operations, quality, accounting, outside suppliers and contractors.

·          Responsible for project management (cost, schedule, performance) for all assigned programs.

·          May coordinate proposal preparation, statements of work and specifications, estimation of product/service costs, negotiation and administration of contracts.

·          Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to program master plans and schedules.

·          Develops control systems and reports that accurately measure progress, identify potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action to be taken and ensures the meeting of company’s contract commitments.

·          Manages and directs all phases of engineering programs from inception to completion.

·          Maintains contact with customer regarding technical specifications. 

·          Directs the integration of a project team that may include: purchasing, engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing, administration and outside resources.

Skills and Qualifications Needed:

·          Requires a Bachelor’s degree Master’s preferred

·           Minimum 8-10 years of related project/program management experience.

·          PMI and/or PMP certification is a plus.

·          Technical knowledge and skills in HF and VHF radio communications technologies, including Software Defined Radios, Digital Hardware and Software/Firmware development.

·          Proven experience in program management of tactical communication products and systems from inception to successful completion.

·          Proven skills in technical leadership and mentoring.

·          Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·          Excellent organization, leadership, motivation and negotiation skills.
