About the Job

Our Central Ohio client is seeking a Program Manager.  This Program Manager will have the following responsibilities:

PROGRAM MANAGER

MAJOR DUTIES:

 

Reporting to the Director, the Program Manager will be responsible for overall project management, including accountability for the project's budget, schedule and customer approval from initial project start to installation at the customer's facility.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Supervises and oversees the design team to complete projects efficiently according to established schedules and budgets and consistent with specified quality standards.

Coordinates accurate documentation for each project through staff supervision.

Works with team members of all departments to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, with the goals being enhanced safely, enhanced functionality, and reduced cost.

Supports the design teams and other Project Managers in all project-related issues.

Focuses on managing risks of all projects.

Assists Applications Engineering with preparing quotations and customer pre-order visits when required.

Ensures that adequate resources are assigned to all project tasks.

Ensures that all problems related to tasks are being addressed and tasks are progressing as effectively as possible.

Holds team communications meetings on a regular basis.

Advocates and fosters a team environment both within the department and throughout the division.

Lead by example.

Accountable for all aspects of the project including; delivery, performance to schedule, performance to budget and cash flow.

Responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction.

Plan and monitor/control the project from the receipt of the order through installation at the customer's site and serve as the key customer contact.

Attend the project status meeting as requested by the Director.

Ensure that the order received from the customer is compatible with the terms of engineering specifications in the proposal.

Create and maintain a project cost forecast comparison of budget to actual for the life of the project.

Manage the schedule of all project phases and milestones, update schedules and initiate corrective action through the department managers.

Conduct Initial Project Build Plan meeting to confirm budgets and schedules for the life of the project.

Coordinate travel plans for all client installation and repair personnel.

Responsible for obtaining machine acceptance at client facilities.

Inform client management of cost of labor overruns and formulate actions to keep project on time and on budget.

Ensure a written record of all customer communications is available for the project file.  

Instruct all vendors as to conduct while at client; including observing all safety rules and completing Client Contractor Program Form.

Ensure that all documentation on the job is shipped to the customer in hard copy and disk form.

Responsible for hosting a post project review upon acceptance of the project on client’s shop floor and before it ships to the customer's site.

 

Requirements

Must Have Skills

A technical degree in engineering, focusing on mechanical, electrical, electronics or controls engineering.

Must have a proven track record of providing positive leadership and coordination to a multi-disciplined project design and construction team.

A minimum of 8-10 years´ experience in a variety of projects/markets on a multidisciplinary team with budgets in excess of $5 million.

Must have a practical working knowledge of robots, PLC´s, instrumentation or other machine controls packages, sensors and pneumatics.

An excellent manufacturing or process engineering background, superior mechanical aptitude and proven trouble-shooting skills.

An ability to work effectively with customers according to deadlines and under pressure-filled conditions is essential.

MS proficient and AutoCAD or similar drawing package.

 

Beneficial Skills

Completion of or in the process of achieving the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.

Experience in Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices or Solar industries an asset.
