Program Manager: Nuclear Plant Technology Instrumentation and Control

Job Functions:
Provides the supervision of the personnel assigned to the Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) program and Nuclear Maintenance Application Center (NMAC) electrical personnel. The duties include but are not limited to responsibility for the strategic content of a forward thinking and innovative research and development program in the area of nuclear power plant maintenance. In addition, the responsibilities include the management of the program budget, schedule, program scope, and program execution as well as the direct management of as many as 10 subject matter experts. The I&C program manager also represents EPRI to utility members and industry organizations such as INPO, WANO, IAEA, NEI, and USNRC. Excellent English language and public speaking skills are required. Significant travel is required including International travel.
The essential tasks and duties include:
- Development of the innovative, forward looking, strategic content of the program is the most important responsibility of the I&C program manager. This is accomplished through the direct input of staff, members and other stakeholders such as the public, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and other organizations.
- Fostering an environment of independent and objective research among the NMAC program team
- Management of the I&C program personnel. This includes as many as 12 subject matter experts and senior personnel
- Interface and present the I&C and NMAC programs, plans and research results to EPRI members, EPRI staff, and other stakeholders. This includes presentations to non-technical, technical and executive audiences.
- Management of the development of and the execution of research program and project scopes.
- Development and management of program and project budgets and schedules.
- Oversight of development of program research and development priorities
- Oversight of personnel performing research and of the technical adequacy of the results.
- Management of at least one individual (sometimes high profile) research and development project(s) is expected.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience should include work in the day to day tasks associated with power plant operations, maintenance, and management. Experience with nuclear plants specifically is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills as well as public speaking skills are required.
Education Level and Years of Experience:
- 10 - 20 years experience in the area of instrumentations & controls, plant maintenance and operation, with a focus on the areas of I&C maintenance, digital control systems, and equipment monitoring.
- Bachelor of Science in a technical field (engineering, science or mathematics) from an accredited college or university is required. Advanced degree is a plus.
- At least one professional certification such as Registered Professional Engineer, Senior Reactor Operator, Maintenance and Reliability Professional, or Project Management Professional is desired.
- At least 5 years experience in the supervision of technical professionals.
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
