Rapid DNA Analysis Solutions
Network Biosystems (“NetBio”) is a dynamic and rapidly growing biotech company located in Woburn, MA; with plans of moving to Waltham, MA in the first quarter of 2010. Based on technology developed at MIT’s Whitehead Institute, NetBio is developing instruments and accompanying disposables that allow ultrafast, field forward DNA analysis for the military, homeland security, and clinical diagnostics markets. Based on core competencies in microfluidics, molecular biology, and engineering, NetBio is readying field forward systems that will provide dramatically superior capabilities than currently possible. The Company’s two product platforms are:
• Human Identification: A “rapid Sample-to-ID” system that accepts a sample and generates a DNA fingerprint in under 60 minutes. NetBio is developing a broad product pipeline in this area to improve safety throughout society.
• Pathogen Identification: A “rapid Sample-to-Sequence” system that accepts environmental and clinical samples and identifies pathogens (including common clinical pathogens, biothreats, and emerging infectious agents) by DNA sequence in approximately one hour.
Program Manager-Product Development
We are currently seeking an experienced, highly-motivated Program Manager to join our product development team. The selected individual will have primary responsibility for directing all project management activities of a complex and time-sensitive program. Individual will assist at bringing Netbio’s products from R&D through prototype development and small-scale manufacturing. Specific responsibilities include:
The ideal candidates will be well-versed at schedule development, with detailed familiarity with Microsoft Project required. The candidate will be able to interact with all levels of technical personnel and will be capable of assigning and enforcing aggressive timelines and due dates. The individual will play a major role in coordinating a number of vendors.
Education and Experience: BSME, BSEE, BS chemistry or life sciences required; MS, PhD, or MBA preferred, or equivalent work experience. Degree must be in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Life Science, or Physics) with a concentration in microfluidic, fabrication and characterization and DNA analysis skills. 5+ year’s relevant program management experience a must. The candidate must have strong managerial skills, be comfortable with a dynamic role in a growing company, and have demonstrated excellent technical vision.
