Job Description


Title: Web/Windows Programmer


 


Brief Description: Maintains and develops web based applications using ASP.NET/VB with the Visual Studio IDE.


Department: Information Technology


Reports to: IT Director


Direct Reports: n/a


Full time, on site Trinidad or Colorado Springs office 


 


General Duties


DD places a high value on flexibility, cooperation, and cross-training. In light of that, the following list is suggestive, not exhaustive, in terms of what this position may encompass.


 


Maintain and develop graphically intensive web applications written in ASP.NET/VB and Silverlight.


Ensure that pages render consistently among major browsers.


Manage subdomain creation and maintenance.


Extensive maintenance, development, and trouble-shooting of code in VB.Net, both on the Web and Windows.


Act as liaison to Art Dept in developing command files to generate images using a proprietary system.


Additional duties may be required, including network infrastructure maintenance, cabling, support desk, occasional travel to support off-site IT setup, backup management, hardware setup, and whatever may be determined to support current needs of the IT department.


 


 


Attributes Required


The following attributes will characterize the successful candidate for this position.


 


High Proficiency in .Net 3.5/VB/Visual Studio 2008, HTML, CSS, cross-browser compatibility, and Javascript is absolutely mandatory.


Must be able to adeptly write both .aspx front-end and code-behind in VB.


Expertise in manipulating objects, methods, properties, and classes in .NET.


High Proficiency in TransactSQL is required, familiarity with Photoshop and Silverlight is desirable.


Creation of CSS to allow different browsers to render consistently.


Familiarity with graphical classes to manipulate and dynamically create images.


Proficiency in IIS7 and Windows Server 2008.


Ability to deliver what is required on time, and the tenacity to resolve problems/accomplish goals as quickly and efficiently as possible.


Hunger to learn new skills, and the ability to learn those through independent study.


Discretion and trustworthyness; capable of being entrusted with access to sensitive information.


Commitment to keep current on relevant technologies and trends.


Flexibility, can-do attitude, and the people skills to act as a liaison between the IT Director and our customers.


Creativity to research, suggest, and implement cutting edge and cost effective ideas.

Candidate has proven s/he can independently design, code, test, and release efficient, well-designed and bug-free pages with minimal supervision and quick turn-around.


Other departments report that daily interactions with candidate are positive and helpful


Goals of the IT department are consistently met on time and effectively


Corporate growth and expansion goals have the required IT support required
