SEIU Local 1000 is a cutting-edge Union that represents 95,000 state employees throughout the State of California. Local 1000 is completing a membership database project that relies on Microsoft Dynamics CRM software to improve communications, services, and information sharing from remote locations among its staff and members.
The Programmer develops code, tests and troubleshoots programs using the appropriate hardware, database and programming technology.
It is based in Sacramento and reports to the Application Development Manager.
Duties:
- Maintains, modifies programs and makes approved changes by amending flow charts, developing detailed programming logic and coding changes
- Codes, tests and develops programming modifications
- Writes new program code according to prescribed specifications
- Evaluates relationships between programs
- Analyzes performance of programs and corrects deficiencies
- Confers with users to understand needed modifications to existing programs
- Resolves questions of program intent, data input, output requirements and inclusion of internal checks and controls
- Writes and maintains programming documentation, problems and resolutions
- Analyzes compatibility between client/server and software solutions
- Maintains confidentiality around information processed, stored or accessed
- Provides on the job training to new department staff and computer orientation to new staff
- Collaborates with IT staff to ensure effective solutions are implemented
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Three years experience programming changes, codes and modifications experience in a Microsoft environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft databases and languages (ASP.NET, C#, C, C+, C++, VB, Java, Javascript, CSS, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM)
- Ability to write technical instructions in using or modifying programs
