ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Support the preparation of sampling and characterization documents such as project-specific Sampling and Analysis Instructions (SAI), Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAP), Work Instructions (WI), and other applicable project documents. Provide input to the preparation of work package documents Health and Safety plans and radiological control documents that will be used during data collection activities.

Implement characterization plans; provide oversight and technical direction to subcontractor and NCO sampling staff in accordance with data collection plans, work control documents, procedural requirements, and DOE guidance documents. Support the interpretation of analytical laboratory and/or field screening results.

Interface with sample management staff during the development of Sample Authorization Forms (SAFs) that will be used to establish laboratory analytical methods, data turn around times and data reporting requirements to meet project sampling requirements. Determine and provide sample schedule and sample volume estimates that can be used to evaluate laboratory readiness. Manage and evaluate project specific data, assuring accuracy and completeness, and provide data to end users in a manner that meets project needs.

Prepare and/or provide input into the preparation of summary reports that describe field characterization activities and report analytical results.

Insure that field documentation is completed in an accurate and technically defensible manner.

Ensure that supplies and field forms are in field-ready condition to support project/functional needs. Control and calibrate equipment and instruments used for measurement and testing. Document all routine maintenance and repair work performed on equipment.

Report anomalies and non-conformances to the functional management and project lead in accordance with applicable procedures.

Initiate actions to prevent reporting data from “out-of-control” measurement systems.

Conduct work in accordance with project site work instructions and approved procedures.

Keep training requirements current.

Note: This position requires entry into radioactive and hazardous work sites.

 

Job Related Qualifications:

 

Bachelor of Science in an engineering, scientific or technical discipline and five years related experience. Possesses technical knowledge of scientific systems and calculations, application of scientific methods and materials, and application of computers.

A combination of education and experience may be considered for equivalency.

Has broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and of principles and practices of related technical areas.
