Intern Architect/Project Coordinator

About the Job

Spiezle, a multi-state architectural design, planning, and sustainability leader,  is seeking talented individuals who are interested in a hands-on project architect position and an opportunity to work on a variety of project types.  This position will be based out of our South Carolina office, within a commutable distance of Greenville. 

 

This role is ideally suited for a self-directed Intern/Project Coordinator, with 5-7 years of experience with educational and public projects. Experience in any one of the following markets is helpful:  Healthcare/Senior Care, Education, Corporate/Commerical, or Government.  These roles require hands-on use of AutoCAD.  We strongly prefer candidates with Revit and BIM experience. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With minimal supervision evaluates, selects and applies architectural techniques, procedures, and modifications.
  • Performs architectural assignments after receiving general instructions and project scope from the Project Manager.
  • Assists with the development of preliminary designs.
  • May supervise or coordinate activities of other Interns and/or assist Designers.
  • Must understand all codes and be able to produce a complete set of construction documents including written specifications.
  • Responsible to coordinate with outside consultants including engineers.
  • Coordinates construction administration with construction managers/administrators and reviews shop drawings.
  • Runs and coordinates job meetings assuring that all meeting tasks are assigned and completed on time. 
  • May be requested to attend networking functions, and assist Team Leaders in acquiring new business.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation.

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures.
  • Ability to use extensive working knowledge of all paperwork procedures necessary to complete the documents necessary for architectural contracts.
  • Ability to use working knowledge of all consultant work to maintain efficiencies and meet deadlines.  Possess an in depth understanding of the basics of most building systems.
  • Proficiency in Auto/CAD program and related MS Office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

EDUCATION

Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture from an accredited college or other accredited registration.

 

EXPERIENCE

Five years of architectural experience.  Preference will be given to candidates with Healthcare/Senior Care or related project type experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Professional architect registration in the USA strongly preferred.  Unlicensed candidates who can document required experience and display core competencies will also be considered.  USGBC LEED accreditation is required to be achieved within one year of employment if successful candidate does not possess accreditation at time of hire.
