Requirements:
Candidate must be knowledgeable of building codes and state agency procedures, and must possess an understanding of the project phases from set-up through design, agency submission, bidding, construction and construction close-out. The candidate must also possess a basic understanding of engineering disciplines involved in the design of a building including building materials and systems. Candidate must have a thorough understanding of construction documents, including both drawings and technical specifications. Candidate must have a proven ability to lead project teams successfully with strong interpersonal, verbal, written and planning skills. Experience in the K-12 Educational Field is desired, experience in the Federal market is a plus as well as knowledge of REVIT or Bentley.
· Architectural License is required
· 5 – 10 years of experience is required
· Minimum education of a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture is required
· Must be experienced in managing large teams throughout various locations.
· Candidate must be proficient with AutoCAD 2008, Microsoft Excel, Word and Project
Job Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the architectural design, drawings and specifications for schematic design, design development and construction documents as well as the coordination and monitoring of progress with all disciplines.
· Keep PM informed of changes in documents from prior assumptions.
· Understand project specific contractual obligations.
· Provide leadership and communication with internal Project Team.
· Conduct meetings with internal Project Team.
· Attend meetings with clients and construction managers with Project Manager.
· Support Project Manager with correspondence with agencies (SED, DOE, planning boards, etc.) including required approvals.
· Represent the firm at Board of Education meetings and public meetings (with appropriate team members, including Project Manager).
· Schedule and coordinate the bidding of projects with the internal Project Team.
· Review and act upon RFIs, submittals, and other construction related interactions with contractors and Construction Managers.
· Assist the Project Manager and Construction Administrator with monitoring of construction and construction close-out phases.
· Conduct periodic on-site field observation reports and final inspection reports during construction.
· Assist the Project Manager with in-house scheduling of projects.
· Possess substantial knowledge of principles and techniques of personnel supervision and ability to work closely with all disciplines.
· Responsible for editing the architectural technical specification sections.
· Responsible to motivate staff and set appropriate standards for professional performance.
· Synthesize team ideas and contributions
· Other duties as assigned by Architectural Department Manager, and/or Project Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities:Monitors supervision of the project architectural team specifically and project team generally during production, works continuously with team members, clients and other professional disciplines and will also oversee in-house engineering team.
