Project/Design Engineer –Peoria Illinois area
Design and development of new products from the early conceptual stage, through prototype, tooling and into production. Provide engineering services to cross-functional new product project teams (Engineering, Marketing, Project Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing) to develop new products. Plan and manage resources effectively to meet performance, TTM (Total Time to Market ), and quality objectives.
Lead and direct assigned engineering activities of the project teams in order to achieve successful market introduction according to the New Product Development Process, as measured against Design Book targets. Includes: Developing components and systems solutions that achieve target functionality and performance, coordinating development testing and failure analysis, working with suppliers to ensure purchased component cost efficiency and performance, supporting manufacturing on fabrication and assembly issues, and cooperating with marketing to ensure product output satisfies customer needs.
Design, develop, schedule, document, and release product and material specifications for new and existing products. Construct and communicate engineering changes, bills of material, and specifications to Engineering Information Services. Develop patentable solutions to practical user based or marketing anticipated needs and trends.
. Participate in team meetings and activities, and support project activities, providing guidance and expertise to Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Distribution to ensure all objectives are met.
Proactively anticipate and seek out innovation, quality improvement, and cost reduction opportunities for new and existing products
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering is required
Product design engineering - 3-7 years preferable in high-volume –low cost consumer products Examples of applicable product experience includes, tools, hardware, lawn and garden products, cleaning products or handheld products that pump fluids, products with some moving parts (mechanisms), products that are sold . Experience in mass produced products manufactured overseas is important Please note- this is not an automotive job |
Proficient with CAD software, preferably Pro/Engineer Experience in design of mechanisms and plastic parts is preferable |
Proficiency with desktop applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint |
Experience in global business environment / multi-national operations |
International Travel |
