Psychologist Project Director

If you are a a Research oriented, Statistics driven Psychologist Project Director with a Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or a closely related field, please read on!

We are searching for an exceptional psychologist to serve as a Project Director who will make significant contributions to our Client's future growth and success.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Director will directly manage the research and development of new psychological assessments and software programs. The position involves collaboration with authors to conceptualize, schedule, and execute test development plans that result in psychological assessments that have strong reliability, validity, and normative characteristics, and that also result in highly marketable and profitable products. The Project Director is directly involved in the management of research databases, and they perform the statistical analyses involved in product development. The position is also directly involved in the technical writing, editing, and preparation of product manuals, test forms, and other components. Project Directors have top-level project management responsibilities, and they direct the efforts of a diverse internal team and various external vendors, data sites, data collectors, consultants, and authors. The position is also involved in acquiring new products for publication and for developing proposals for potential new products.

Scientific and Technical responsibilities include the following:

- Responsible for conceptualizing, planning, scheduling, and executing research that results in highly reliable, valid, and marketable assessment instruments; ensures that APA, AERA, and Client standards for psychological tests are met.

- Performs and interprets a variety of statistical and psychometric analyses; has excellent knowledge of multivariate statistics, including exploratory/confirmatory factor analysis, discriminant function analysis, cluster analysis, diagnostic/ROC analysis, multiple regression, curve fitting, and graphical/visual depiction of data.

- Performs a range of scientific/technical writing tasks; has a strong knowledge of APA editorial style

Project Management responsibilities include the following:

- Has top-level project management responsibility for projects in his/her portfolio; responsibilities include directing/coordinating internal and external staff, managing his/her own time and effort, and reporting to management on project progress and status

- Creates initial project budgets that provide for appropriate staff and financial resources to ensure project success; manages internal staff, external vendors, contractors, and authors to complete projects on-budget

- Creates initial project schedules that provide for appropriate time intervals for development work to ensure project success; manages internal staff, external vendors, contractors, and authors to complete projects on-schedule

Staff and author relationship responsibilities include the following:

- Serves as a strong liaison between Client and their authors, and works to achieve mutually beneficial solutions; effectively represents Client interests and needs to authors, and effectively represents authors' interests and need to Client.

- Effectively interacts with authors and staff by using strong interpersonal and communication skills, and is able to assertively manage projects with tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity

Product Acquisition and Proposal Development responsibilities include the following:

- Works closely with the Vice President of Research and Development to execute a forward-looking Product Acquisition Strategy that has as its goal the acquisition and development of an increasingly larger number of high-quality, high-revenue products within Client's core market areas

- Works with authors of potential new product acquisitions to conceptualize, budget, and schedule research development plans that will result in highly reliable, valid, and marketable new assessment products

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

- An earned doctoral degree in clinical psychology, school psychology, or a closely related field; graduation from a clinical psychology doctoral program that adheres to the scientist-practitioner training model is strongly preferred.

- One year of post-doctoral work experience

- The successful candidate's doctoral, internship, and post-doctoral training will have strong research components, including research planning, research management, and scholarly analysis and reporting of research results

- Project management experience, including management/coordination of a research team, and the creation and management of project budgets and schedules

- Strong track record and evidence of research productivity
